I'm still recovering from all of the fun fashionable events that I attended last week and still updating the blog!  Last Thursday I attended The MVL Social celebrating My Vicarious Life's 2nd Blogiversary.  The event was held at the beautiful Loft at Castleberry Hill.  Upon entering guests received fabulous gift bags (contents featured above).  ATL's fashionistas mixed and mingled while enjoying delicious cuisine.  Hearing Katrice's story was sooo inspiring!  She has accomplished A LOT, but she has definitely put in the work!!!  I love being in the company of successful and ambitious women. It definitely keeps me motivated!  What I've noticed since I embarked on Atlanta's fashion scene just a few months ago is how supportive these women are.  Katrice is indeed one of these women and I look forward to seeing what she does in the future!

Last Tuesday I attended The Sadiddy Magazine Launch "A Bad-Ass Celebration".  It was located at The House of Adrene Boutique.  The event was hosted by Sadiddy Magazine's editor-in-chief, Adrienne Gadling and art director, Tiffany Hill.  If you haven't done so yet, please check it out! The event featured a fashion showcase, discounted shopping, and delectable desserts.  And, of course, the event would not have been complete without a signature "Bad Ass" cocktail!  As ATL's fashionistas mingled, Adrene, owner of the boutique explained to us that Sadiddy is an attitude...not a negative attitude...but the way a lady carries herself.  This made me contemplate the question Am I Sadiddy? As I continue in my quest of self worth and discovery, I say YES!!!

The event also featured awesome giveaways!  Lady Luck has really been smiling on me!!! My name was selected, but before I was given my gift I had to answer the following question:

What song gets you in the mood?
My answer, Let's get it on by Marvin Gaye.  I'm totally telling my age right now, but Marvin is classic...  On the way out, we received gift bags filled with hair and beauty products.  I can't wait to try them all!

If you haven't done so yet, please enter my giveaway here.  The deadline for entry is tonight at midnight. The winner will be announced in my next post. Have a great week!

Blazer-Loehmann's recent
Tank, Earrings-BCF
Vegan Leather Pants-Esprit
Urban Outfitters Cooperative T-strap wedge

Love the detail of this blazer!

Esprit's craftsmanship is stellar and I adore the little touches like this tag which (for me) justified the red wedges!

$33 Value

Collection includes:

UV Gloss Guard Top Coat
Smooth Beginnings Base Coat
Strong Results Length & Strength Complex
Instant Gel Cuticle Remover
Nail Enamel Remover Wipes

Happy Friday Guys! As Cliche as it sounds, I am really happy!!!  I threw on this outfit to go out for drinks last weekend mostly because the blazer and pants were laying in a box on my bedroom floor.  I am seriously flirting with the idea of buying new clothes when I run out since I can never seem to finish the laundry...

Ok so I have to give you the scoop on this ensemble...  I tweeted about my Esprit order (yes Esprit...) a couple of weeks ago.  They put their entire online store on sale for 50% off including sale and outlet items!  The pants were $15.  Unbelievable, right!?! For that price, I bought them in both grey and black (which is something I generally don't do).  The fit is AMAZE, so I'm really glad I did!!! I have loved Esprit since I was a little girl.  I typically buy from their site a couple of times per year usually when there's a item I just have to have like the vegan leather vest worn here, or when they are having a sale since their regular priced items tend to be outside of my budget.  I was super excited when I received the 50% off email since outlet items were included because they generally aren't.  Esprit's items are very well made and generally last forever!!!  I bought the boots worn here in 2005 I think and they are still going strong!  The sale is ongoing so definitely head over to and take a gander.

I found the blazer on a recent trip to Loehmann's.  I had a coupon for $20 off a $50 purchase so I picked it up along with a really cute (but overpriced) shirt.  I had to get it to use my coupon!  The final cost of the blazer was ~$20 so not bad...

Last but certainly not least, my blog turned 6 months old on February 21st! Oh yeah!!! Doing my best  MC Hammer impersonation *running man* then *typewriter*.  I'm having such a great time and am super grateful to you guys for taking this journey with me.  To mark this occasion, I'm giving away the Avon Nail Expert Kit pictured above just in time for that springtime pedi!  To enter, just leave a comment on this post. To qualify you must be following the blog, following me on twitter, OR following on facebook.  If you are following in more ways the one, you will be given additional entries (ie. 1 for fb, 2 for fb & twitter...).  A winner will be selected at random.  Thanks and Good Luck!!!

Long Hair Red Bottoms

Scarf- Gift from China
Jacket-Kenneth Cole
Boots-Mojo Moxy

Can you tell my hair is only 3/4 of the way done? LOL

Happy Wednesday!  My apologies...I've been totally slacking on posting.  My daughter starts high school next year :'( and I've been consumed with applications, etc. I was off work Monday so I ran errands and met a friend for lunch.  This is what I wore.  I based my outfit on this lovely scarf that my supervisor brought back from China, since I started braiding my hair Sunday and didn't finish.  After about 8 hours, I ran out of hair and out of steam o_O.  I was also dying to wear my Mojo Moxy Auckland Booties that I waited to purchase until they were marked down to 1/2 price.  I love the colored denim trend that is happening right now.  Wearing them with neutral colors tones them down for a more conservative look.

Today marks the beginning of Lent. I generally give up something for Lent because sacrifice builds discipline.  This year I am giving up shopping and fast food.  In a final attempt to shop last night, I perused and put every cute pair of springtime wedges I could find in my shopping cart, and then fell asleep before I could check out...FAIL!  Needless to say, it's gonna be a looong 40 days.  My girl Rhonda at Looms, Lids, and Layers also gave up shopping so we're going to keep each other motivated.  Are any of you guys giving up shopping?  If so, please leave a comment.  I definitely can use all the support I can get!

My Granny My Valentine

Age: Mid to Late Teens
Circa early 1930's

Age: Mid 20's
Circa early 1940's

Age: 65
Age: 35

Valentine's Day has been bitter sweet for me for the past few years... NO, not because I've been single, but because I lost my Gran who's birthday is Valentine's Day.  My granny was the epitome of what I woman should be!  Although she possessed beauty that could stop people dead in their tracks, she didn't rely on that to get by.  She was intelligent, hard working, determined and, believe it or not, street smart.  She could hold her own with the best of 'em!  The stories she told me as a child stayed with me.  When I became a woman and experienced more than my fair share of bumps and bruises that life tends to dish out, I was able to use her experiences to get me through.

My family came across the old photos of my Granny (pictured above) in the late 90's.  Every one of my grandmother's five children, grandchildren, and probably great-grandchildren has these pictures.  I'm sure I speak for us all when I say how much they mean to us.  Sometimes I just stare at them imagining all she went through in her nearly 90 years of life.  Those photos inspired me to do a photo shoot for my 35th birthday in hopes that my children and many MANY years from now, my grandchildren, will look at my photos in the same way.  Although I began over a year later, this photo shoot was ultimately the reason I started blogging.  It all ties back to her.  She'll Always be my Valentine...

MAC counter at Macy's was doing complimentary lips and eyes and I decided to try something outside of my comfort zone

On Saturday, My daughter and I did some Mother-Daughter bonding. We attended the Free People Handmade Love event, where guests made DIY Valentine's cards and enjoyed tasty treats!  We were provided with blank cards and decorating materials including rhinestones, fabric, fabric paint, and letter stamps.  I can't think of a way that I would rather have spent my Saturday than bonding with my #1 girl.  I feel so fortunate that she still wants to do things like this with me! You know I had to get a little shopping in too ;).  After this outing I pretty much chilled for the remainder of the weekend, which is odd for me...  On Sunday I made it as far as Walgreen's to pick up a few bottles of Sinful Colors nail polish on sale for 99 cents.  I'll post about them later this week.  Thanks to Mimi of Lipgloss & Binky for tweeting about this! I also plan to polish my nails this week! I love nail polish, I have a gazillion of them, and I rarely do my nails.  Guess I won't sit still long enough :/.  I digress...  I had a very relaxing weekend.  I can't remember the last time I didn't have anything planned for an entire day! I hope you guys had a great one <3.

Just a little bit about my outfit...  I nabbed these leggings from BCF, last worn here, for ~$7 and the shirt was on clearance for the same amount! I love the open sleeves and a windy night made it extra fun!!!  How did I do for $14???

Hi guys! I'm super late at recapping the remainder of 'Fro Fashion Week. I had planned to post daily starting Monday, but I had to take a blogger break to take care of my son who had a cold :(.  Fortunately he's feeling better, but now I'm not feeling great...

These pics are from Sunday, the final day of the event.  I wanted to be comfortable since I attended several seminars.  Photos from the seminars, etc can be found on my facebook page.  I have a few more pictures from the fashion show Sunday night, but haven't decided if I'll create a blog post.

I have a some fun stuff in store for the weekend, but am also hoping to get some much needed REST.  I hope you guys have a great weekend...
