Hola! I have a confession.  This is actually my first time taking blog pictures in 2013.  Even though I've been posting here and there, they were all residuals from 2012.  I hadn't taken blog pics in so long that I forgot how to pose (hence the 3 variations of the same pose).  In spite of my lack of variety, I'm really excited about this post because I'm linking up with my blogger boo Eboni for Style Me Friday.  I live for her Style Me Friday posts so when she decided to make it a link up, I knew I had to jump on board!  How did I do!?!  I also have to shout out my girl Jazmine for giving me a few tips on tweaking the blog.  The poses will get better guys, promise :).

Life Maintenance: Storage Solutions

Hi guys!  So this is my first post this week... I know what you're thinking, "Tia is a total slacker".  Well that's only partially true ;).  I've been spending the week getting myself back together mentally and emotionally.  I always feel better when I'm working toward a goal so I started organizing.  Remember this mess?! A wise man once posed the question, how do you eat an elephant to which he answered one bite at a time.  That is the approach I'm using to get organized.  Check out some of my storage solutions below.

I used my armoire to store my heels and clutches.  This allowed me to get rid of a bunch of shoe boxes and free up closet space.  It also makes finding the right pair of heels for an outfit a breeze.
I used the Ikea Expedit shelving unit to store my jeans, dress pants, and cardis.  This unit is really versatile as it can be placed vertically or horizontally.  It also has drawers which are sold separately.  I'm thinking about using curtain panels to give it a more polished look.  We'll see...

I still have A LOT to do as I have not even begun to touch my closets, but it's great to see that elephant withering away...poor guy.  Because organization is a journey not a destination, I would love for you to share your organizing tips with me.  Happy Friday!!!

Life Maintenance: Me & My Girlfriend

I came across this article in the January issue of Marie Claire.  If you haven't picked it up yet, you should!  If not for this article, because my little sis is featured in the What I Love About Me segment.  So proud of her!  I digress...  Back to Girlfriends...  When I flipped to this article, I was glued.  I chuckled at the anecdotes and the stories of friction when one half of the girlfriend duo started seriously dating then it hit me...  This is me and my bestie!  Even though she's on an entirely different continent, I totally depend on her.  Other than me being a devout heterosexual, she provides everything I would want in a partner.  She has done everything from wipe my tears after a bad break-up to help me change a flat tire.  The turn of events that brought about our friendship is so insane, but I honestly believe it was divinely ordered.  While I can't promise I won't be a tad bit jealous when she finds the one, I will most definitely still be here.  When we're women of a certain age, we'll ride bikes in Italy wearing dresses and bright red lipstick :-).

Hey guys, keeping it short & sweet today since I'm still not quite myself.  This was an outfit I put together about a month ago and then decided against.  I decided to blog it because I really like it and one of my goals for the new year is to push myself a little more fashion-wise.  Have you set any fashion goals for the new year???

Coming & Going

Denim Jacket- Esprit ancient/Old White Tank/Skirt- Urban Outfitters/Shoes- 80 20/ Clutch- Aunt Lou/ Watch- DKNY/Bracelet- H&M

Long time no blog...I know.  I lost my grandma at the onset of the New Year.  If you know me personally, you know that my grandma was (and still is) a major influence in my life.  If you don't know me personally, but recognize that I almost always have a smile on my face, you know the magnitude of the role my grandma played as well.  My smile and my demeanor are a reflection of her.  Although I'm not quite sure how I will navigate my future without her here in the physical form, I most certainly know that I will continue to strive to be more like her and to make her proud.  I just know she's watching from afar and when I need to see her, I look in the mirror and smile :).

Dear Mama

Mommy & me
The New Year is a time of renewal.  I spent much of the day yesterday sad because my bestie from Spain left and the remainder of the day thinking, planning, and goal setting for 2013.  Whenever I'm setting goals, I always think about my mom.  She raised 5 children alone and her strength is a constant source of motivation.  With all that I have experienced she has always been there as a quiet yet strong pillar.  The older I get, the more I am amazed at how she continues to maintain this role for both her children and grandchildren.  The older she gets, the more I'm amazed by her beauty both inside and out!  Mom, I'm not calling you old =D.  With this being my first post of 2013, I thought it would be fitting to dedicate it to the most important woman in my life.
Happy Birthday Mom! I love you!!!
